Governing Body
The Governing Body consists of representatives of the local community, parents and staff. Their independent role is very important in the short, medium and long term running of the school and its development. The Governors attend school functions and parent meetings, etc., and work behind the scenes to help make our school thrive. The main responsibilities of the Governing Body:
- To offer a strategic view of the work of the school
- To support and challenge
- To hold the school to account for the standards and quality of education it achieves
- To work as a team to plan, monitor and evaluate
The Governing Body of Ashford Hill Primary School consists of 13 members. Each Governor is elected for four years and when his or her term of office expires he or she must seek re-election if they wish to remain on the Board of Governors. The Local Authority appoints LA Governors. The Governing Body appoints community Governors and Parent Governors are elected by our school parents. The appropriate section of school staff elects Teaching and Non Teaching Representatives. The specific areas it focuses on include curriculum, recruitment and staffing, development, finance, buildings, health and Safety and PR. Working integrally with the Staff their input provides a valuable third party, independent viewpoint on the school’s current activities and its future direction.
